Jose Mourinho has been impressed with what he’s been seeing from reported Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat has been one of the players of the tournament during this year’s World Cup in Qatar. As a result, plenty of teams now appear to be thinking about signing him, including Liverpool.

And as per a video message posted by Moroccan outlet ENDM on Twitter, Mourinho has added his name to the list of admirers.

“They [Morocco] have individuals, [Yassine] Bounou was an individual during the competition and in this game [against Portugal] was the same. [Sofyan] Amrabat, I know him from Italian football, very good player,” said the Roma manager.

But the biggest praise of the Roma manager was reserved for Amrabat’s midfield partner Azzedine Ounahi.

“Their No.8, the young boy that plays in France in Angers, Ounahi was absolutely incredible,” gushed Mourinho. “So, they have players, a coach and an incredible spirit.”

Amrabat’s journey comes to an end

Mourinho’s words came before Morocco were beaten 2-0 by France in yesterday’s semi-final. Nevertheless, his analysis of Amrabat was perhaps even more pertinent after that game.

The 26-year-old made a quite stunning tackle on the phenomenon that is Kylian Mbappe. Although his team went on to lose the game, that moment nicely summed up what Amrabat is all about.

It also encapsulated why Liverpool are reportedly so keen to get him signed up.

Jurgen Klopp is said to have already met personally with the player and his representatives, with more talks lined up for the coming weeks.

Hopefully that can lead to a move being sealed during the January transfer window. But with Fiorentina said to be keen to keep hold of the midfielder, that may be easier said than done.

Amrabat’s price has been quoted as somewhere in the region of £26m. For a player of his obvious talents, that wouldn’t seem like a bad price at all. With Morocco’s adventure now at its end, Liverpool fans should keep their eyes peeled for updates on this one.
