‘He was very honest’: Tyler Morton shares what Harvey Elliott told him before he joined Blackburn on loan

Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton shared what Harvey Elliott told him ahead of his season-long loan move to Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking with the Merseyside club’s official site during an interview, the 20-year-old claimed the Reds first-team star had a lot of advice ahead of the switch, having spent the 2020/21 season at Ewood Park.

“I spoke to him quite a lot, to be honest, about Blackburn because I’m very close with Harv,” Morton said.

“I had the conversation before I took the move – and Leighton Clarkson as well – and they were just saying how good the lads are and how tight-knit the group is. I’ve come in straight away and the lads just bounce off each other.

“I got a lot of advice off him and I appreciated that he was very honest with me. He’s my good mate, so I know he was going to be. I took his advice with me and it’s paying off.”

Morton appreciates Elliott’s advice

Elliott’s advice was always going to be valuable, given just how much he impressed whilst on loan at Blackburn.

Arriving for the season as a 17-year-old, the former Fulham youth talent played a staggering 41 games in the Championship, during which he bagged seven goals and 11 assists.

This loan move was huge in the youngster’s development, as Elliott is now a fully-fledged member of the first-team. Thus far this term, the U21 England international has made 14 appearances in the Premier League and another six in the Champions League.

Morton is also enjoying his spell in the Championship, having played every league game possible since arriving.

Very impressively, he has averaged the third-highest match rating in the entire squad, illustrating just how easily he has slotted into the team.

Therefore, the holding midfielder will continue to use this loan spell to develop, in order to be ready when he returns, so he can challenge for a spot in the first-team.
