Luis Diaz is expected to feature for Liverpool in one or both of their upcoming friendlies in Dubai.

The Colombian winger has been missing since injuring his knee in the 3-2 loss against Arsenal on October 9th. But having returned to full training for Liverpool yesterday, Goal report that he ‘should’ feature against Lyon or AC Milan.

It’s unclear just what kind of workload Jurgen Klopp is willing for Diaz to take on just now, though. Goal only go as far as saying that fans will see the 25-year-old ‘at some point’ during the two games.

Liverpool relishing Diaz return

Whether or not Diaz features weekend, it sure is brilliant to have him back in training. Given that Liverpool’s next competitive fixture is still two weeks away, you’d expect him to be fit by then.

Still, that will creep up quicker than you think. With it also being a game at the Etihad against Manchester City, Klopp will hope to have Diaz available for that.

Part of making sure that happens will be getting some matchday minutes in his legs. But as a player who has been described as being ‘electric’ by young teammate Conor Bradley (Liverpool Echo) Diaz may not need much of a re-adaptation period.

He famously hit the ground running upon signing for Liverpool last January. Diaz barely looked back since. As a result, it would perhaps be a surprise to see him take some time to acclimatise following injury.

Regardless, Klopp will want to get him back into the swing of things if at all possible.

Liverpool missed Diaz while he was away. They’ll hope to minimise any further games without him in the second part of the season.

Although the Reds won’t be able to count on Diogo Jota for a little while, it’ll be a luxury for Klopp to choose between Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino once again.

Welcome back Luis, we can’t wait to see you back in action!
