Report: FSG still ready to sign ‘sensational’ player for Liverpool before selling the club

Liverpool owners FSG are ready to go big on signing Jude Bellingham, despite putting the club up for sale.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail. They claim that Bellingham will continue to be Liverpool’s top transfer target, regardless of the ownership situation.

FSG are reportedly keen to ensure that the playing squad is kept in good shape for a sale. As a result, they’re planning to push ahead with a move for the Borussia Dortmund teenager.

With that in mind, Liverpool’s recent recruitment is even said to have been ‘geared around’ creating space for Bellingham.

There’s also good news for Reds fans, as they’re claimed to still be ‘leading the race’ to sign the 19-year-old. Despite his World Cup performances alerting Manchester City further to his quality, Liverpool continue to be the favourites to sign him.

Also included in the report is the suggestion of a release clause being present for Bellingham. Although this has previously been denied to be the case, The Mail report ‘strong rumours’ of a set fee appearing in his contract.

Motives don’t matter in Bellingham race

This is, obviously, great news for Liverpool. There had been some worry that FSG may neglect the recruitment side of things in the lead up to a sale.

But as they continue to assess their own options in that regard, they need to make sure Liverpool remain attractive.

With the current side looking a little leggy, they may be losing appeal to a portion of buyers. As a result, FSG have to keep things fresh.

Bellingham’s signing would be the perfect way of doing that. Not only would he add youth and exuberance to the Liverpool team, his joining would also be a huge statement.

With the biggest clubs in world football circling around him, Liverpool winning the race would show off their status in the game.

It’s easy to see why this works for FSG. Liverpool with Bellingham are definitely more attractive than Liverpool without the ‘sensational’ youngster. It shouldn’t be the main reason to sign him, but if it means brining the Dortmund man to Anfield, we’re not sure the motives really matter.
