Phil Foden paid Jude Bellingham the highest possible praise after they shone for England on Sunday. Liverpool want to sign the latter.
Jude Bellingham somehow managed to increase the spotlight on him this Sunday. The England midfielder was already one of the most impressive players at the World Cup, already has a legion of clubs following him and already looks destined for the very top. And yet, he’s still surprising people.
Bellingham started in midfield against Senegal for what was his first World Cup knockout game. He’s now established in midfield and is arguably the first-choice there now. Well, if he wasn’t, he is now.
The 19-year-old was fantastic and played key roles on both of England’s opening goals. His assist for Jordan Henderson’s strike made him the youngest player to assist for the Three Lions at a World Cup, in fact. He had Gary Lineker raving about him, too, and now Phil Foden is a little lost for words.
“I don’t want to big him up too much because he’s too young,” the Manchester City star told ITV. “But he’s one of the most gifted players I’ve ever seen.
“I don’t see a weakness in his game. He’s got everything. He’s going to be the best midfielder in the world, I’m sure.”
Phil Foden in awe of Jude Bellingham
Liverpool are already pushing as hard as they can to sign Bellingham, by all accounts. The Athletic believe he’d now cost at least £130m to do so, though.
And is he really worth that? Well, at this stage – yes. £130m is starting to look like the low end of his valuation, as mad as that is, and Liverpool should probably prepare themselves to meet an even higher asking price.

Borussia Dortmund know what they’ve got here, after all. They’re not going to sell for anything shy of astronomical and this will be a record fee in one way or another.
It’s worth mentioning, though, that Liverpool supposedly feel confident. The Liverpool Echo believes they’ve already decided they can pay Bellingham’s wage demands.
Now they just need to convince Bellingham to become the world’s best midfielder at Anfield.
