Report: Liverpool desperate to sign 22-year-old World Cup star, Kylian Mbappe says he’s amazing

Liverpool are desperate to sign wantaway Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, and Jurgen Klopp is leading the charge.

At least that’s according to Calciomercatoweb, who claim that Klopp is ‘willing to do anything’ to sign the Serbian striker.

Vlahovic, who only arrived at the Old Lady in January, is reportedly looking to leave Juve already. As a result of Max Allegri’s rather defensive style of play, it’s claimed that the 22-year-old would like to jump ship.

And should he leave, Klopp is said to be keen to bring Vlahovic to Anfield. The Liverpool boss is reportedly on the lookout for a striker after seemingly being unconvinced by new signing Darwin Nunez.

Somewhat ludicrously, it’s also suggested that Klopp would be willing to offer Ibrahima Konate in exchange for Vlahovic.

Liverpool not in the market for a Darwin 2.0

This is one of the more obscure rumours to come out ahead of the January transfer window.

It isn’t that Vlahovic isn’t a good player, he surely is. In fact, he’s potentially one of the best strikers of his generation. That’s what Kylian Mbappe thinks anyway. Back in September, the French phenomenon had this to say about the Serbia international:

“Vlahovic is a quality striker, he is one of the best of his generation. he can do much better going forward, he has so much to give,” he said via Football Italia.

“He has already shown so much, Only time will tell, but I don’t think it is a big risk for me to say that he will be a top striker in the coming years.”

If Klopp thinks so too, then he’s in good company. But regardless of the Liverpool manager’s opinion, it seems virtually impossible that this would translate into a transfer.

The Reds simply don’t need a forward in Vlahovic’s profile right now. He’s very much in the Darwin mould, and Nunez is doing just fine thank you very much.

It’s interesting to hear that the striker could be on the move, though. After his much-heralded move to Juve, he has done relatively well, scoring 16 goals in 36 games.

Vlahovic hasn’t been able to show that kind of form at the World Cup. He’s only played 24 minutes of Serbia’s campaign so far. If Liverpool fans want a glimpse of him in action, he’ll be hoping for a bigger role as they take on Switzerland later today.
