It is reported that a whole host of clubs across Europe are now interested in landing the player, with Liverpool and Tottenham named as suitors from the Premier League.

Corriere dello Sport claim that Amrabat currently earns £1.55m per year at Fiorentina, whereas the Merseyside club are set to offer him a ‘mind-boggling’ figure.

Liverpool interested in Amrabat

The Moroccon has been absolutely crucial for his nation whilst out in Qatar at the World Cup.

He played the full 90 minutes in their opening two group games against Croatia and Belgium, having surprisingly returned with four points. As a result, Amrabat is once again expected to feature in Morocco’s midfield against Canada, as the country hope to qualify for the last 16.

As a defensive midfielder, obvious comparisons can be made to Fabinho, who holds the fort in the middle of the park for Liverpool.

The Fiorentina man appears to trump the Brazilian when it comes to passing. Compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, Amrabat ranks in the top four percent for pass competition and progressive passes made, whereas Fabinho comes in at the top 18 percent and just inside the top 45 percent for the same statistics respectively.

As a result, the Morocco international has been hailed by his national team manager as ‘a world-class player’.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham tried and failed to bring the midfielder over the summer.

Therefore, with the north London side hot on Jurgen Klopp’s heels, Liverpool will need to act fast if they are to bring him to Anfield in January.
