Liverpool have rejected the chance to sign Brighton attacker Leandro Trossard, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs on GiveMeSport.

The journalist claims the Reds are one of three Premier League sides to have been offered the Belgium international, but the Merseyside outfit have passed on the opportunity.

“We know, for example, that Trossard at Brighton is being put in the shop window by his agent,” Jacobs said.

“He’s been offered to Manchester United; he’s been offered to Liverpool, and he’s been offered to Chelsea.

“Liverpool are not interested.”

This swift refusal to sign the Brighton winger may come as a premature decision made by the Reds.

In 14 Premier League games this term, Trossard has impressively bagged seven goals and three assists.

As a result, he has earned a call-up to the Belgium national team for the World Cup. Coming off the bench for Roberto Martinez’s side, the attacker is playing alongside the likes of Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard. This is a testament to his quality, as the Red Devils have fantastic depth within the squad.

Earlier this season, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand claimed the previous Seagulls boss Graham Potter should sign the 27-year-old for Chelsea, as he would improve their creativity in the final third. He said the playmaking aspect of his game is ‘unreal’.

Liverpool have struggled with injuries this season, and a player like Trossard would’ve been a useful addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Having proven himself in the Premier League, the forward would have been able to go straight into the Reds’ XI.

However, if the Anfield hierarchy don’t hold the same opinion, then hopefully they have a number of other targets they’re currently working on. The club truly need a fair few new signings going forward.
