Liverpool are now interested in signing Athletic Bilbao striker Nico Williams, according to Calciomercato Web.

The Italian outlet claim Luis Enrique’s tenure as Spain manager could come to an end after the World Cup. Instead, they suggest he could replace Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

If this comes to fruition, the report suggests Enrique could look to bring the 20-year-old attacker with him to the capital.

However, the likes of Liverpool, Juventus and Real Madrid are also interested in landing his services.

According to a report from Spanish organisation AS back during the summer, the Reds were said to be monitoring the youngster’s progress.

Liverpool want to sign Williams

Easily confused with the former Liverpool defender Neco Williams, the Spain international is now very much on the radar at Anfield.

At just 20-years-old, he has already emerged as a key player for Spain. At the World Cup, Williams has graced the pitch as an impact substitute, coming on to unleash his daring dribbling and dangerous footwork.

According to his brother and Athletic teammate Inaki Williams, Nico is ‘practically unstoppable’ in one-on-one situations.

The winger has even compared himself to Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, for the way he dribbles and attacks like the Frenchman.

Liverpool are currently undergoing a rebuild at the club. The likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate have all been brought in as long-term options to develop.

Fitting into this mould, Williams would be another great addition for this. As a youngster, his versatile skillset makes him a very appealing option to bring in and improve, with the view to a long-term career at Anfield.

There is no better manager than Jurgen Klopp for this, so this could be a fantastic signing for everyone involved.
