ITV Sport pundit Roy Keane has lavished praise on reported Liverpool target Jamaal Musiala, whilst joking about the England national team.
During coverage of the World Cup, the former Manchester United midfielder took a jibe at the Three Lions about the 19-year-old’s decision to represent Germany, instead of choosing Gareth Southgate’s side.
Born in Stuttgart, Musiala represented England at various youth levels, including the U21’s, having played alongside Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
“He’s a kid, he’s learning his trade and what a place to be learning (World Cup),” said Keane.
“It’s nice to see England get a taste of their own medicine.
“They have taken players. Rice and Grealish (Republic of Ireland). Don’t get me started on that.
“It’s not easy (picking Germany over England). You have to respect his decision.
“But a wonderful talent. There is still potential, and we are looking forward to watching him.”
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are interested in signing Musiala, but Bayern are reluctant to sanction a sale.
Keane praises Liverpool-linked Musiala
Now playing club football with Bayern Munich, the youngster has already emerged as one of the biggest talents in European football.
In 14 Bundesliga matches this season, the 19-year-old has incredibly bagged nine goals and seven assists from midfield.
Most impressively, Musiala has already made 100 appearances in a Bayern shirt – a stunning statistic for a teenager.
With incredible footwork and unbelievable vision, it is no wonder to see Jurgen Klopp’s side linked with a move for the German starlet.
Slotting into the Reds’ midfield as the advanced playmaker, he would be given the freedom to roam and get forward.
Liverpool need that player in the middle of the park, who is going to link up play with the attack. Musiala would be fantastic at this.
However perfect this transfer may be, Bayern would likely do anything to keep hold of their teenage prodigy. Thus, making this an unlikely prospect at Anfield.
