Report: £38m Liverpool player's agent says he dreams of playing for Real Madrid

The agent of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has admitted that he would love to one day play for Real Madrid.

Diaz only joined Liverpool from Porto last January. But according to Defensa Central, the Colombian’s agent has told them directly that he’s dreaming of playing for Madrid.

The desire to join Los Blancos reportedly comes from a wish to follow in the footsteps of Colombia legend James Rodriguez.

Although it’s claimed that Diaz is happy in Liverpool, he is said to ‘look sideways’ at Real all the while.

Disappointing hints from Diaz

This is quite disappoiting news to come out during the international break. Of course, it must be taken with a dollop of salt, but Diaz himself has already spoken of his ‘childish’ wish to play for a Spanish club.

Although the 25-year-old doesn’t name the club during his interview with SoHo, it would appear to be the European Champions.

So, it’s clear that there’s no smoke without fire here. As Liverpool have found out in the past, South American players have a tendency to be swayed by either of the Spanish giants.

Having lost Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona at the peak of their powers, they’ve staved the pair off for a while.

But, having now signed Darwin Nunez and Diaz, perhaps Liverpool will have to steel themselves for future raids.

No one at Liverpool would begrudge Diaz his move one day, if he’s done the business continually for the Reds.

To speak about it less than a year after his £37.5m move to Anfield is a wee bit disappointing though.

Hopefully this isn’t something that will affect his performances for Liverpool moving forward. Diaz is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve every time he steps on the pitch. Any drop off in that will be noticeable. Don’t let it happen, Luis.
