‘Breathtaking’ Liverpool player now spotted celebrating like Ronaldo during training at the World Cup

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was spotted celebrating like Cristiano Ronaldo during England training at the World Cup.

Captured in the Three Lions’ ‘Inside Training’ series on YouTube, the 24-year-old was taking part in a plyometrics competition with Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Conor Coady.

Competing for the fastest box-jump time, the Scouser rounded off with a chart-topping score.

Revelling in the triumph, Alexander-Arnold proceeded to re-enact Ronaldo’s signature ‘siu’ celebration – much to the amusement of his teammates.

Trent still looking for World Cup game-time

Alexander-Arnold failed to make a cameo during England’s 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.

This was somewhat expected, as the defender has always been a player surrounded by controversy with the Three Lions.

Despite calls as one of the best full-backs in world football, even recently being described as ‘breathtaking’ by BBC pundit Micah Richards, the Reds superstar has failed to impress Gareth Southgate.

Although he made his international debut under the manager as a 19-year-old back in 2018, the generational talent has only amassed 17 caps for England.

The vast majority of these have come at unimportant times; particularly during international friendlies and qualifying for tournaments.

Whilst Kyle Walker has been a mainstay in Southgate’s side, it took a fitness concern and an injury to Reece James for the Liverpool man to be included in the current World Cup squad.

Playing back-up to Kieran Trippier against Iran, it doesn’t appear Alexander-Arnold is going to get much, if any, game-time out in Qatar.

The Three Lions boss can argue about the player’s defensive abilities all he likes, but if he decides to use wing-backs at some point, there is no doubt the Scouser should be in his starting XI.
