Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson was spotted celebrating in England’s World Cup training out in Qatar today.

Back out on the training pitch after dominating Iran 6-2 in their opening game yesterday, the Three Lions squad were put through their paces in a number of drills.

The Reds skipper was captured by BeanymanSports competing in a speed and agility race, weaving between poles.

Smashing through the finishing line, Henderson shouted ‘boom’ out in triumph – as he seemingly beat his rival through the posts.

Despite failing to grace the pitch against Iran, the Liverpool star is evidently keeping ready for a call-up, with his fitness on top form out in Qatar.

Merseyside teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold was always spotted taking part in the exercise.

When Henderson was called up to Gareth Southgate’s squad a few weeks ago, it was never assured as to whether he would receive much game-time out at the World Cup.

Yesterday was the first confirmation of this. Despite earning the number eight shirt, the 32-year-old was included amongst the substitutes for England’s opening game of Group B.

19-year-old Reds target Jude Bellingham featured in the starting XI alongside Declan Rice, another player who has been linked with an Anfield switch.

With Southgate favourite Kalvin Phillips also on the bench after recovering from a shoulder injury, Henderson may not even be the first-choice option to replace one of the starting midfielders.

This is also the case for Alexander-Arnold, who yesterday played back-up to Kieran Trippier. Despite a recent return from injury, Kyle Walker would likely resume his place in the Three Lions’ side.

Therefore, with a possible lack of game time this winter, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be happy his England duo are more likely to return injury free when they arrive back on Merseyside.

However, the pair have looked sharp in World Cup training, meaning there is always the possibility they could grace the pitch.
