Report: Father of 16-year-old ‘phenomenon’ denies Madrid plans, after claims Liverpool want to sign him

Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick is not set to travel to the Spanish capital in the coming weeks, despite rumours he has a tour planned of Real Madrid.

That’s what the 16-year-old’s father told journalist Fabrizio Romano, after news emerged of Los Blancos awaiting the youngster’s decision, ahead of the winter window.

The forward has been linked with a myriad of clubs across Europe over the past year, and with their brilliant scouting department, Liverpool have been one of them.

The Reds join Madrid and the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to secure the teenager’s signature.

However, whilst it recently looked more probable that Endrick was set for a Santiago Bernabéu switch this January, Romano has revealed that this may not be the case.

Taking to Twitter, the reliable journalist shared how the teenager’s father had rejected these recent claims.

Liverpool in the race to sign Endrick

Alike most South American youngsters, it is always hard to compete with the Spanish heavyweights in the transfer market.

These players dream of playing for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, as its all they’ve ever known.

This has even been evident at Anfield in recent years. The club’s hands were tied when the Catalan giants came in for Luis Suarez in 2014 and again for Philippe Coutinho in 2018.

Therefore, if the Brazilian youth talent did end up in Spain, this won’t come as much of a surprise to the bidding Premier League suitors.

However, with Endrick’s father’s public clarification regarding the reported Madrid plans, the battle to secure his services may be more open than first thought.

Liverpool have been linked with the 16-year-old for the past year, and they still remain interested.

Having been dubbed a ‘phenomenon’ by Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, Endrick is sure to be a player the Reds are in regular contact with.

With the level of competition interested, the Palmeiras starlet is sure to be one of the biggest talents in world football.

Therefore, his decision over the coming months will be massive for whichever suitor wins the race to his signature.
