Tough tackling Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has left his mark on Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes during Brazil training.

According to a report from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Fabinho and Bruno went in for a big tackle during a session yesterday. As most do when battling the Liverpool man, Guimaraes came off worse, sporting a hole in his boot as a result.

As if that wasn’t enough, it’s claimed that the Newcastle man needed medical attention following the challenge.

Bruno was reportedly treated for around three minutes after Fabinho’s tackle. Although he is said to have been showing some discomfort, the 25-year-old continued until the end of the session.

It seems as though Fabinho is doing his best to ensure Bruno has no desire to join him at Liverpool!

Although it’s never nice to see a training injury, it’s good to hear Fabinho is going in hard during sessions.

Too often this season we’ve seen a real lack the 29-year-old’s trademark bite. He has been far too passive during games, and Liverpool have suffered as a result.

There have been some improvements over recent games, particularly in Saturday’s win over Southampton.

By and large though, Fabinho’s form has led to question marks over whether he still has it in him. Hopefully this little anecdote is some indication that the fight hasn’t left Liverpool’s destroyer.

He’s unlikely to play too often for Brazil in Qatar. Usually, that would be good news for the Reds, who are still over-reliant on their No.3.

But right now, they could probably do with him keeping some rhythm going. Fabinho is a player who finds it hard to shake off the rust of inactivity.

Having him competing and playing is the best way to bring a return to his best form. Perhaps he’s seen the rumours linking Bruno to Liverpool and just thought he’d let the Newcastle man know he’s not going anywhere. Keep at it, Fab.
