Liverpool midfielders Harvey Elliott and Jordan Henderson were left absolutely thrilled by the news that Curtis Jones had signed a new long-term deal with the club.
Taking to Instagram, the 21-year-old spoke of his delight to extend his stay at Anfield, having first joined the Reds as an Under-9’s player.
In response, a whole host of Liverpool stars took to the comments to congratulate their teammate.
Whilst Henderson responded with two clapping-hands emojis as a signal of his applause, Elliott sent a four-word message, “Yesirrrr love it famlee”.
Liverpool squad delighted for Jones
Having already amassed 81 appearances for the Reds, it is sometimes easy to forget that Jones is still only 21-years-old.
At times, we see criticism of the midfielder which would usually be directed at an experienced professional. Instead, these people look past the fact that the Scouser is still incredibly young.
In recent weeks, Jones started to play a bigger role in Jurgen Klopp’s side. He began to feature in every league game, whether that be in the starting XI or off the bench, and he even played a crucial part in Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League win over Napoli.
If it wasn’t for a bone injury earlier on in the season, the attacking midfielder would have featured far more often this season. Alongside the likes of Elliott and Fabio Carvalho, Klopp seems to have placed more trust in the youngsters this term. Although this may be due to various injuries, it is still beneficial for their progression, as they are getting regular first-team minutes under their belts.
Therefore, as Liverpool seemingly believe Jones has a big future at Anfield, it is expected we will see far more of the youngster over the coming months. Having already demonstrated his dazzling footwork, now it is time for the midfielder to work on his decision-making in the final third.
