'Very good': In-form Arsenal star raves about Anfield during interview released today

In-form Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has named Liverpool’s Anfield as the stadium with the best atmosphere.

Martinelli is the man of the moment at Arsenal. Having scored five Premier League goals this season he was then named in Brazil’s World Cup squad at Roberto Firmino’s expense.

Now, in an interview with arsenal.com, the 21-year-old has been asked to name the best atmosphere he’s played in, outside of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. In music to Liverpool fans’ ears, Martinelli raved about Anfield.

“Anfield. It’s a very good atmosphere over there as well,” said the Brazil star. “But at the Emirates it’s so much better!” he hastily added.

Yeah, yeah. Of course you had to say that, Gabriel. We all know what you really think!

Martinelli out of reach for Liverpool?

Add another one to the pile, then. Despite what some supporters will have you believe, the allure of Anfield continues to be awed at by top players.

In this specific case, it will only add weight to calls for Liverpool to go out and try to sign Martinelli.

The young winger has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. Right at this very moment, he’s perhaps one of the most feared forwards in the whole of the Premier League.

As a result, he probably deserves his spot in the Brazil squad bound for Qatar.

And as a result of that, he’s potentially now out of reach for Liverpool. Whereas they once might have expected to poach a player from the likes of Arsenal, that no longer looks realistic.

Of course, the pull of Anfield and in particular that of Jurgen Klopp might be something that might tempt Martinelli.

Klopp has been pretty vocal in his praise of Arsenal’s No.11, and with his contract up in 2024, maybe it’s worth some kind of enquiry from Liverpool.
