Gabriel Martinelli has some expensive demands of Arsenal, according to reports. Liverpool must watch the situation closely.

The Daily Mail claims that Gabriel Martinelli wants £200k-a-week to remain with Arsenal. The Brazilain believes he should be paid on-par with the Gunners’ top earners.

Now, there’s isn’t a great rush here. Martinelli’s deal expires in 2024 and Arsenal retain an option to extend it by a year. If they wanted, then, they could keep the forward for quite some time.

But Arsenal do run a risk of upsetting Martinelli if they don’t negotiate a new deal. Worryingly for them, it comes as Bukayo Saka makes similar demands. Can they afford to pay both? We’re not so sure and that might just raise eyebrows at Liverpool.

Gabriel Martinelli makes Arsenal demands

Jurgen Klopp loves Martinelli. He never misses an opportunity to talk-up the youngster, labelling him ‘the talent of the century’ in 2019, per the Liverpool Echo.

This is a situation Liverpool have got to watch, then. Maybe Martinelli doesn’t really kick up a fuss until the summer – or even the summer after that – but Arsenal are running a risk here. They’ve got two incredible young wingers on their books, both of which want to be paid like a star player.

But with Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus also on that kind of money, they’re running out of space on their wage bill. We imagine Martin Odegaard might fancy a pay-rise soon, too. Williams Saliba is another who could ask for one.

And Martinelli isn’t the only one Liverpool will watch here. The Times, among others, believe they’re watching Saka and could move if no new deal happens.

It’s a delicate situation at Arsenal, then, and one Liverpool could take advantage of down the line. Martinelli and Saka are certainly two players well worth playing the waiting game for.
