‘The least talented’: Gary Neville shares whether he would swap Man United’s front-three for Liverpool’s

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has revealed he would swap Manchester United’s front-three for Liverpool’s.

Speaking on an episode of The Overlap, the former Red Devil’s right-back claimed he would choose the attacking three of any other ‘Big Six’ team over Man United’s.

“Up-front I think United’s front players, I think they are the least talented out of the top six,” he said.

“I think I would swap [with] every other club, Chelsea is the only one I’m a little bit like that [unsure] about, but I think every other squad’s forward players in the top six I would swap for ours.”

When fleetingly looking at the Premier League table, it would be easy to question Neville’s opinion. After an extremely poor start to the campaign, Liverpool sit eighth in the table, only on goal-difference, whilst Man United are pushing the top-four in fifth.

However, when taking a deeper dive into the two sides’ scoring stats, it becomes clearer as to why the pundit has come to this conclusion.

Having won two less games, the Merseyside club have scored seven more goals than their arch-rivals.

Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have each bagged six goals this term, meaning they both land in the top-ten in the Premier League rankings.

Marcus Rashford comes in as United’s top-scorer with four league goals, having split his time as a left-winger and as a centre-forward this season.

With Salah leading the line for Liverpool, no United player should be anywhere near the Egyptian when making comparisons between the two sides. This is even whilst Cristiano Ronaldo is in-and-out of Erik ten Haag’s XI, although it is hard to say where he stands in the club’s rankings, but it is nowhere near Salah’s stature at Anfield.

Therefore, looking elsewhere, the likes of Darwin Nunez and Firmino – in the absence of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota – trump the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony and Rashford when it comes to picking the better front-three.
