Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for star forward Mohamed Salah on BBC Sport after his double brace led the Reds to a 2-1 victory away at Tottenham.
Goals from the Egyptian in the 11th and 40th minutes ensured the Merseyside outfit three points as they travelled to London to face off against Antonio Conte’s top-four side.
Taking to his post-match interview, the Reds manager was full of praise for the 30-year-old’s display, having once-again insisted his numbers in front of goal continue to be insane’.
As quoted by BBC Sport, the German claimed: “When you look at his stats and [see] how often Mo [Salah] was involved in goalscoring situations, himself or setting up, these numbers are insane as well.
“But I know in the end; goals, assists – the rest is not important.
“So for us, he is always important and today he proved that again with two massive goals.”
Klopp says Salah’s record is ‘insane’
After netting twice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Salah sits eighth in the all-time scoring charts at Liverpool – just two goals behind Kenny Dalglish.
In 23 less games, the winger has surpassed Michael Owen’s tally by 12 goals – illustrating his incredible strike-rate at Anfield.
As well as his 170 goals in a Reds shirt, the 30-year-old has also contributed 68 assists to the side, joining up with the likes of Roberto Firmino and the recently departed Sadio Mane to form a formidable front-three.
However, whilst the other two have shown signs of slowing down, Salah still appears to be at the top of his game.
In six Champions League games this season, Salah has sensationally bagged seven goals. This means he is now tied with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the club’s top goal-scorer in Europe, with an incredible 41 goals.
At times in recent seasons, without the Egyptian, Klopp’s side would not have looked like scoring.
Although Darwin Nunez is now finding his feet at Anfield, finishing in the final third has proven to be a surprising issue for Merseyside outfit.
Without Salah’s goals, who knows how badly Liverpool would be doing this season.
Therefore, it is easy to see why commentators, including the likes of Gary Neville, have hailed the Reds star as a ‘world-class’ talent.
