Luis Díaz will be out for a little while yet but one Colombian journalist offered an update on his recovery. The Liverpool winger will play a vital role once he’s back.
Luis Díaz suffered a horrible blow last month as an injury against Arsenal ruled him out until late December. He now won’t play for Liverpool before the World Cup – right when the Reds struggle for form.
But at the very least, recovery appears to be going well. That’s according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, who offered an update on Díaz this week.
“Luis Díaz is training and following the recovery protocol at the headquarters of Colombia National Team in Barranquilla,” he wrote on Twitter. “The winger came to the country for a holidays period.
“Most of the recovery and readaptation process will be done in Liverpool.”
Luis Díaz on the road to recovery
There was never any real expectation that Díaz would return this month, let alone last month. This injury would take time and Liverpool can count the World Cup as a blessing.
Because of the tournament, Díaz won’t miss as many games as he might have. Much of his recovery will take place during the pause in club football.

The massive positive here then is that Díaz appears to be well on his way. Liverpool desperately need him fit, after all, as they’re short on lef-wingers right now.
Jurgen Klopp switched to a 4-4-2 system in an attempt to fix problems at the club, only for Díaz to immediately pick up his injury. That forced even more tinkering, especially once Diogo Jota was out, too.
Liverpool, then, need their Colombian back. He’s not only a standout player and one of the few to find form this season, but Klopp will find fixing the side a whole lot easier with Díaz available.
