Liverpool forward Luis Diaz was pictured sporting a new-look goatee as he continued his recovery from injury.
The Colombian has missed the last three weeks for Liverpool and won’t be back until after the World Cup. In his absence, the Reds have looked a little lost going forward.
And, judging from his post on Instagram this morning, Diaz has been missing Liverpool too. Without his regular Reds fix, the 25-year-old has clearly decided to impersonate former manager Rafael Benitez.
Looking good, Luis!
More importantly, Diaz looks like he’s putting the hours in to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. His return really can’t come soon enough.
Liverpool desperately missing Diaz
Things were bad enough when Diaz was actually available for Liverpool this season. Despite the Colombian’s best efforts, he wasn’t able to drag his team into a consistent run of form when fit.
Now that he’s missing, things have plundered new depths. A weekend loss against Leeds United at Anfield has over-taken the previous Saturday’s defeat at Nottingham Forest as the season’s new low point.
As they prepare to face Napoli tonight, Liverpool fans could be forgiven for feeling like the world is against them right now.
The Italians are on a 13-game winning run and obliterated the Reds earlier on in the season. Diaz was the was the one player who actually looked like giving them a chance against Napoli on Matchday 1. He won’t be there tonight.

Thankfully, reprieve isn’t too far away. After the game at Anfield tonight, Liverpool have just three more matches to get through until Christmas.
The hope is that the World Cup break will be exactly what they need to get a foothold on the season.
When things recommence, Diaz should be back in action. Diogo Jota will still be out, but the return of Liverpool’s No.23 alone will be cause for greater optimism amongst supporters.
