Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has claimed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won’t be joining Liverpool anytime soon.

The Georgian winger has been lighting up Serie A and the Champions League with some sensational performances. This has led to some suggestions that clubs, including Liverpool, have been circling him.

But speaking to DAZN via Football Italia, Giuntoli insisted that Napoli won’t let him go.

“He [Kvaratskhelia] is doing very well, as are many. There’s a long way until the transfer window opens, but there is absolutely nothing in it. We are very happy and we want to keep doing well,” said the director.

“Is Kvaratskhelia off the market? Absolutely, he is not for sale.”

All of Europe on alert as ‘Kvaradona’ keeps shining

Kvaratskhelia has been one of the standout players in Europe during the early days of this season.

His explosive pace and unpredictability on the pitch have even drawn comparisons to Liverpool’s very own Mohamed Salah.

The 21-year-old was left with big boots to fill at Napoli following the departure of club legend Lorenzo Insigne. But Kvaratskhelia has banished any memories of the Italy international with some scintillating displays.

Eight goals in 16 games is impressive, but even that doesn’t tell the whole story of just how good he’s been.

Predictably, this has led to talk of a departure from Naples. Napoli may be the continent’s form team right now, but there are plenty of clubs with deeper pockets who would love to tempt the Georgian away.

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool are one of those teams. Kvaratskhelia was impressive against the Reds on Matchday 1 of this year’s Champions League and will be looking to make a similar impact on Tuesday night at Anfield.

Do well again, and perhaps Liverpool will ramp up their interest.

For now though, Napoli seem to be insistent that the man nicknamed ‘Kvaradona’ will be going nowhere. Naples has a funny way of inspiring loyalty in players who could otherwise move on to ‘bigger’ clubs. As Kvaratskhelia’s star rises, perhaps he’ll be bitten by the same bug, too.
