Liverpool are looking closely at Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to reports. The Georgian is a revelation in Italy.
This comes from CalcioMercato. Their journalist Daniele Longo claims that both Liverpool and Manchester City are paying ‘great attention’ to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli in the summer for around £9m. It was a relatively low-profile transfer at the time but now looks like it may have been the best business any club made this summer.
After all, Napoli needed to replace Lorenzo Insigne and opted to back a player with nine goals in three seasons for Ruben Kazan. Not many would have taken that route.
But Kvaratskhelia repaid Napoli with stunning performances already. The 21-year-old has five goals and three assists in Serie A this season. You can add another two goals and three assists from his four Champions League appearances, too.
One of those assists came against Liverpool last month, of course. Kvaratskhelia was one of the game’s standout players as Napoli tore the Reds to shreds.
It now seems that Liverpool like at least one part of the Italians’ display.
Liverpool eye Kvaratskhelia
Really, there are two major problems with this one. Firstly, Napoli are going to demand a fortune in order to part with their now-star asset. Kvaratskhelia may have cost only £9m in the summer but it’s not too much to believe he could cost 10x that already.

And we can’t see Liverpool justifying that. Kvaratskhelia is shining as a left-sided forward and the Reds boast so many players for that position already. Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez can all operate from that side. Fabio Carvalho, too, if they want more of a playmaker.
So as good as Kvaratskhelia is, this isn’t a transfer that really makes much sense for Liverpool. Not anytime soon, anyway.
