Diogo Jota put on a show against Rangers as he picked up 3 assists in 17 minutes of football. The forward was electric.

Diogo Jota went a little under the radar last night as Liverpool tore Rangers apart. The Reds won 7-1 at Ibrox, with Roberto Firmino scoring twice and assisting another. Mohamed Salah then broke Champions League records with a six-minute hattrick.

But Liverpool’s no.20 put on a show in 17 minutes against Rangers. Jota started on the bench and came on for Firmino with 17 to go. He’d assisted Salah within two minutes, assisted him again five minutes after that and then took one more minute to get his third assist of the night.

It was an unbelievable spell from Jota, who finished the match having completed every pass he attempted. He even found time to get involved in the seventh, too.

Diogo Jota grabs 3 assists

This was fantastic from Jota, who continues to show that he thrives playing off of a centre-forward. It had been Darwin Nunez the last two games but here it was Salah. And for a player who is usually a danger in front of goal, it turns out Jota can also be a fantastic playmaker.

As Liverpool switch to 4-4-2, Jota becomes increasingly essential. He’s really the only one who can play all four positions – left, right, as the striker or just off of him. Perhaps Luis Diaz fits into that, too, but with the Colombian out, Jurgen Klopp will rely on Jota’s versatility.

That’s the benefit of having a player who can seemingly do it all right now. Wherever he plays on Sunday – even if it’s coming off the bench – Liverpool can rely on Jota to deliver. This was a world-class display in 17 minutes and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for Manchester City.
