Report: Liverpool no longer the club leading Jude Bellingham race

Liverpool are no longer the club leading the race for Jude Bellingham, according to reports. The player is expected to move in 2023.

This comes from the Independent. They claim that Liverpool are no longer the club leading the way for Jude Bellingham in 2023.

They were at one stage, it seems. The article claims supposedly had a lead in this race but uncertainties around the club changed that. Now English teams believe that ‘performance’ will decide things this season.

And Liverpool certainly aren’t leading the way there.

But the report claims that Germany sees things differently. The belief there is that Real Madrid lead the charge and performance doesn’t necessarily come into it.

For what it’s worth, they say that Liverpool and Manchester United are the ‘most interested’ English clubs. Manchester City are then waiting in the wings as they decide on their targets.

Liverpool are in this race but perhaps lack the strong position they once held.

It’s worth pointing out that Spanish reports see things a little differently. Cadena SER recently claimed that Real are perhaps Borussia Dortmund’s preference. Liverpool, however, are Bellingham’s.

That was the talk late last week and we can’t imagine it’s changed too much with the Arsenal defeat. Liverpool’s form will end up costing them, though, if they don’t turn it around.

And you don’t really need a report or a source to know that. The Reds just aren’t playing well and look like a risky choice for Bellingham right now.

The saving grace from a Premier League standpoint is that United are an even riskier choice. It’s hard to see how Liverpool overcome the challenge from Real Madrid in this form, though.

So if the Reds want Bellingham, they’ve got to turn things around. Finishing outside of the Champions League spots would be a disaster on several fronts and this, you’ve got to say, is one of them.

Bellingham is a sensational talent and the most in-demand player around for a reason. Lothar Mattheus was talking just last week about how ‘dangerous’ he’s becoming. Liverpool won’t want to blow their chance here.
