‘Moto!’: Mo Salah drags in Liverpool’s masseur to sing special happy birthday for Trent Alexander-Arnold

It’s Trent Alexander-Arnold’s birthday, meaning the Liverpool players and staff gave him a special sing-a-long at Friday’s training.

Liverpool released their Inside Training video ahead of Arsenal this weekend and it’s dominated by the Happy Birthday celebration for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back turns 24, so the Reds gave him their usual song.

Jurgen Klopp likes to lead the song by calling out the squad’s different languages. You get a rendition in English, Greek, Spanish, Irish and Dutch – but Liverpool found one missing this year.

Takumi Minamino’s exit meant Japanese was missing. Mohamed Salah fixed the problem, though, as he went to grab Liverpool’s Japanese masseur, Moto Watanabe. Problem solved.

From there, we don’t see much in the training video. Liverpool’s players aren’t exactly thrilled about the weather – tipping it down with rain in cold conditions.

“Welcome to summer,” says Virgil van Dijk. “Summer in Kirkby.”

“Back to reality,” Salah adds now that the warm weather is officially gone.

Other than that, it’s mainly goalkeeper exercises. Alisson, Adrian, Caoimhín Kelleher, Marcelo Pitaluga and Harvey Davies are all put through their paces. Liverpool certainly have their goalkeeper options back and fighting for places.

It’s particularly nice to see Kelleher training as normal. He missed the first stage of the season with an injury and his return eases the pressure on Alisson. While the Irishman likely features in the EFL Cup and nothing else, he’s welcome cover.

Alisson, after all, usually has at least one spell out of the side per season. Kelleher will step-up in his stead, should that occur.

Other than that, we see Curtis Jones, who Klopp confirmed is back in training. We don’t expect him to be fit to face Arsenal this weekend but the Scouser may appear against Rangers next week.
