Jordan Henderson named the two best footballers he’s played alongside at Liverpool as Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Henderson couldn’t pick between his two former teammates at Anfield.
“I have played with a lot of great players, it’s so hard to pick a single great player from the countless I have played with,” said the Reds captain. “Looking back across my whole career I would have to say Luis Suarez or Steven Gerrard. Both were absolutely sublime players, and it would be so hard to pick just one.”
There might be one or two of the current Liverpool squad who are a little miffed off, but it’s hard to argue with that.

Henderson playing with the best of the best
Listening to Henderson’s choice serves as a reminder of just how long he’s been at Liverpool. We’re now into the 32-year-old’s 12th at the club.
That time has been punctuated by some genuine legends of the club. Of course, there’s Gerrard and Suarez. Two players who could lay claim to being amongst the best of a generation.
More recently, Henderson has obviously played alongside modern-day legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk.
Players like Thiago Alcantara and Trent Alexander-Arnold may not have reached that level just yet. But technically speaking, they both could also challenge for this particular title.

Further back, and Henderson also played with the likes of Pepe Reina and Jamie Carragher. Dirk Kuyt may not have been the prettiest footballer, but he is also a celebrated figure at Anfield. The skipper lined up with him, too.
As a result of all this, Henderson very much serves as a link between the recent past and present of Liverpool. If some fans had their way, he would have been jettisoned from the side some time ago.
But there’s value in having a player so steeped in what it means to play for the club. It’s not every day someone who didn’t begin their career at Anfield goes on to spend so many years at Liverpool. To stay at the top for so long is testament to Henderson’s quality and leadership.
With almost three years still to run on his current deal, perhaps someone will come along and steal the crown from Suarez and Gerrard yet.
