‘It looks like Darwin Nunez shrinked’: Klopp won’t hide his disappointment at Liverpool player’s new haircut

Kostas Tsimikas has a new haircut and it was the talk of Liverpool’s training session on Thursday. The left-back got some stick.

Liverpool put out their latest ‘Inside Training’ video this week. The five minutes of footage is mostly about one thing, though – the new haircut of Kostas Tsimikas.

Jurgen Klopp kicks off the video explaining how seeing the style – which is honestly just a man-bun – has ruined his day. The boss immediately wants rid.

“A good day and now this,” says Klopp on seeing Tsimikas. “No really! How much so I can cut it off?”

That elicits nothing but sympathy for Tsimikas from his teammates in the dressing room. No one seems to dislike it more than Klopp does.

“Have a look at Kostas Tsimikas,” Klopp then warns the cameraman as he makes his way to the pitches. “It looks like Darwin Nunez shrinked.”

Not long later, Virgil van Dijk is telling Tsimikas “Kosti, he can’t say that to you, brother.” Presumably he means Klopp but by this point everyone is talking about it.

Tsimikas then wants Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah to assure him he doesn’t look like Darwin Nunez. Neither are willing to do so, however.

“Does it look like Darwin?” asks Tsimikas. “It looks a bit like Darwin, but…” Alexander-Arnold replies, seemingly not seeing the issue.

“Does he look like Darwin?” Salah asks the camera. “He does!”

It is nice to see that ahead of a massive six weeks for Liverpool, spirits are high. There’s certainly no doom and gloom about the place – perhaps the 2-1 win over Ajax did a lot of work to keep things positive.

We do wonder how long Tsimikas will put up with this, though. He got away with it today as Nunez wasn’t actually at training but he can’t go around looking like his mini-me.

With the Greek set to start on Saturday, we won’t have to wait long to see if he’s willing to send a brutal, defiant message to Klopp and keep the hairstyle. Or will he crumble under pressure from the club? Anfield. 3pm. The biggest story of the season so far.
