‘Given up his holidays’: Arthur’s agent speaks out on his difficult Liverpool start

Arthur’s agent has talked about the player’s difficult start to life at Liverpool. The Brazilian didn’t arrive ready to go.

Liverpool surprised everyone when they signed Arthur on loan at the transfer deadline. He arrived from Juventus as a player who wasn’t really getting a game there. Clearly, the Reds saw something no one else really did.

Not that we’ve seen it ourselves yet. Arthur has only made one appearance for the first-team and that was as a substitute in the 4-1 defeat in Naples. Liverpool are taking their time in integrating the Brazilian.

But then, that’s no surprise. The Reds like to take their time anyway and Arthur arrived at the club without a serious pre-season – he’s about a month behind everyone else.

Fortunately, his agent believes Arthur is making wonderful progress over this international break. Liverpool should see the best of him soon.

“The first few weeks are normal for adaptation and the recovery of his physical condition,” Pastorello is quoted telling Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Everyone is very happy with him. He has given up his holidays to stay in Liverpool to work. Soon, he will be at 100 per cent.”

Arthur’s difficult Liverpool start

Arthur certainly did cut his holidays. He’s been with Liverpool over the last week, even playing for the Under 21s while other first-team players are away. It’s something that has certainly impressed staff at the club.

And so it does seem that Arthur will be at something near his best once football resumes at the weekend. Whether that means he’s ready to play Liverpool’s system is another thing – but Jurgen Klopp can at least count on a fit player.

It’s important that Arthur finds his way at Anfield soon, too. Liverpool will have a big decision to make in 2023 with his £32m option to buy – getting in as much good football as possible is the only way they’ll be convinced to pay it.
