Alisson Becker has received praise for one pass vs Ajax tonight. The Liverpool goalkeeper continues to impress.
Very few Liverpool players are performing at their best these days. In fact, Jurgen Klopp believes only three are meeting their minimum standards over recent weeks.
One of those, though, is unquestionably Alisson Becker. The goalkeeper may be conceding goals but none were his fault. Liverpool just aren’t protecting him.
Alisson’s game isn’t just about his ability to stop goals, though. What the Brazilian does on the ball is extraordinary for a goalkeeper and we saw it in action against Ajax tonight.
Liverpool’s no.1 played a fantastic pass on 17 minutes, taking Ajax’s press out of the game and allowing Luis Diaz to win a header up against the Dutch backline. That header fell to Diogo Jota who setup Mohamed Salah for the opener.
Rachel Brown, the former Liverpool & Everton goalkeeper, was full of praise for Alisson at half-time.
“It’s a brilliant pass, isn’t it?” she told BT Sport. “It’s a 70-yard pinpoint pass. That wasn’t the first and it wasn’t the last in that first half.
“He was excellent. There were two other occasions where it really set up Liverpool for a shot on goal.”
Alisson produces an excellent pass vs Ajax
He’s got that in his locker, of course. Alisson can cut teams open if you allow him to and Ajax did just that early on at Anfield. Give the Brazilian an opportunity and he’ll take five or six defenders out of the game.

That, in turn, pushes teams back and allows Liverpool more space. It’s why the Reds consistently label their goalkeeper the best in the world – even without the outstanding shot-stopping, Alisson is a vital part of their success.
We saw it in action tonight and while not everyone in Red is performing, Alisson certainly is.
