Liverpool’s staff are delighted with the progress of Stefan Bajcetic, according to reports. The youngster looks like a star.

This comes from the Liverpool Echo. They claim that Liverpool’s staff love what they see from Stefan Bajcetic. The teenager has found himself in and amongst the first-team this season after a series of injuries to senior players.

Bajcetic arrived in December 2020 as the last foreign-born under-18 signing that Liverpool may ever make. The Reds had to rush through the transfer as Brexit rules in January 2021 ruled out the possibility of it happening again. Now EU nationals require work-permits – and Under 18s can’t get them.

And so Bajcetic may see his record as the youngest foreign debutant stand forever. It’s actually impossible for anyone to break it as things stand. Fortunately, he appears to have the ability to justify the record.

Bajcetic continues to impress Liverpool. They included Bajcetic in their pre-season plans, and he’s since stuck around for the Premier League squad. That alone shows just how well the Spaniard has already developed this year.

Under 21 boss Barry Lewtas likes what he sees, certainly.

“So he’s not with us all the time and at the moment he’s having a fantastic experience with the first team but I think the real beauty of where we are now is those connections [between seniors and youth] are stronger,” he told the Echo.

Strengthening those connections is a huge deal for Liverpool. It was one of the reasons they moved to Kirkby, with the academy and first-team able to operate in close conjunction.

Bajcetic – and Bobby Clark – are the most obvious positives coming out of that right now. They’ve each had their debuts, each had the best possible learning experience and could yet play bigger roles this season.

We’re particularly impressed with Bajcetic and see him as a potential star. With the EFL Cup and FA Cups to come, we fully expect to see him get a start before too long.
