Fabinho has welcomed new teammate Arthur Melo to Liverpool after he signed for the club on deadline day.

Reacting to the 26-year-old’s post on Instagram, Fabinho messaged Arthur to send him his regards.

“Welcome back brother,” wrote Liverpool’s no.3 with a couple of muscle flex emojis thrown in, too.

The two players know each other well having played and trained together numerous times for Brazil. It won’t be long now until they’re back together and strutting their stuff in Liverpool’s midfield.

It can sometimes be underestimated how chemistry between players can affect performance.

For Arthur, there’s no question that joining a club with some familiar faces will help him to settle in off the pitch. But it should also be of benefit to him on it.

In a position as nuanced as the Liverpool midfield, it may take the Brazilian some time to get up to speed with what’s expected of him.

Sure, he’s supposedly an excellent passer of the ball, but that will only get you so far with Jurgen Klopp. Instead, Arthur’s going to have to get used to the specifics of what the German expects, and pretty quickly too.

Without the assurance of a long career ahead of him at Anfield, it’s unfortunately a little bit sink or swim. He’ll have to learn quickly or he won’t get the minutes he’s looking for.

That’s where Fabinho can come in. After taking time himself to get used to the position, the 28-year-old is now fully aware of what’s expected of him.

Hopefully he can pass on some of his own experiences, and help his mate through the games.

Another big help in this respect will be Thiago. He and Arthur have never played together, but they both played for two massive clubs before joining Liverpool. Thiago’s adaptation to how his role differed at Anfield will be an example for Arthur to follow.

It’s one of the most intriguing transfers for a while at Liverpool. If his new teammates can help him settle quickly. maybe he’ll be the surprise of the season.
