Jurgen Klopp confirmed an injury to Jordan Henderson in the wake of Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday evening. It’s ‘not helpful’, as the boss says.
Liverpool were certainly celebrating last night as they somehow rescued a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at Anfield. Fabio Carvalho’s 98th-minute winner sent everyone into delirium.
But it wasn’t all positive. Jordan Henderson went off in the second half and while that initially appeared tactical, it turns out the captain has an injury. Jurgen Klopp confirmed it in his post-match interview with BT Sport.
“Another problem with Hendo,” said Klopp. “He left with his hamstring, which is obviously not helpful.”

Not helpful, indeed. Liverpool just can’t escape injuries right now, even at a time when players are on their way back.
Diogo Jota, for instance, should return to training later today. It felt as though that was the start of things easing up. Not the case, it seems.
Of course, it could turn out to be a minor strain and nothing to worry about. If it’s more than that, however, Henderson would join Thiago and Naby Keita as absentees for the Merseyside derby. That’s Liverpool’s first, second and third-choice options for their advanced midfielders all missing.

The only real good news is that Harvey Elliott is in wonderful form. He’s absolutely guaranteed a start against Everton if Henderson is out – and we were pretty sure he’d start anyway.
As for what Klopp does without his captain, we’re not sure. The most obvious move would be to bring James Milner in and keep things the same. The riskier play is Carvalho alongside Elliott as Liverpool ended the Newcastle game. That might be a bit much away at Everton.
We’ll just cross our fingers that Henderson is alright. Liverpool could do with a bit of injury luck for once.
