Two clubs approached Liverpool today about Owen Beck, according to reports. The teenager has surprisingly arrived back at Anfield.
This comes from the Liverpool Echo’s Live Blog (August 30th 2022, 12:10). They claim that two clubs have approached Liverpool about a deal for Owen Beck.
Beck arrived back at Liverpool this week after his spell with Familicao was cut short. The left-back simply didn’t get game-time in Portugal and the decision was made to end things.
Immediately, reports suggested that a move to Bolton Wanderers was on the cards. Conor Bradley is already there – and shining – and Beck could operate on the other flank in their 3-4-3.
That’s now up in the air, however, as Bolton aren’t the only club hoping to snatch the 20-year-old up. The Echo doesn’t name the clubs, but things should become clear soon.
Clubs have approached Liverpool about Owen Beck
Beck is a very talented young player – just one without a clear pathway in Liverpool’s first team. Jurgen Klopp labelled him a ‘real prospect’ last season and did use him in a couple of games. But with both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the squad, Beck needs to be out on loan.
It’s a shame that the Familicao loan didn’t work out, then. That could have seen the left-back developing in Portugal’s top flight, rather than England’s third tier.

But then, perhaps one of these mystery clubs is playing in the Championship. If so, we imagine Liverpool will try to send Beck there. The higher the level, the more he can develop, after all.
There is something to be said about sending him to where Bradley is, though. The two of them play similar roles, for one, and having a familiar face at a club will always make a loan easier.
We’ll see what Liverpool do over the next couple of days, then.
