Leeds United are looking to sign Ryan Kent and could trigger a clause for Liverpool, according to reports. The Reds will be hoping for this one.
This comes from the Daily Mail. They claim that Leeds United could make a late swoop for Ryan Kent of Rangers.
Kent only has one year left on his deal, which should affect any move for him. Leeds actually thought about a move last year but Rangers knocked back interest in a £15m deal. Now, however, such a bid could get the player.
Leeds may lose Dan James, with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton interested. If the player moves, a transfer for Kent becomes very viable.
Liverpool hold Ryan Kent clause
Kent joined Rangers back in 2019 for an initial £6.5m, rising to £7.5m with add-ons. That fee went to Liverpool, of course, who hold a 20% sell-on clause, per Sky Sports. Whether that’s a percentage of a future fee or a percentage of the profit isn’t clear.
Regardless, Liverpool will hope something goes through. Kent’s contract expiring next year means he can move for free, robbing the Reds of any potential sell-on fee. It would be a shame – the expectation when that clause was put in there was a return to the Premier League.

Admittedly, we thought Kent would be back in England by now. Rangers’ assault on European football has kept him in Scotland for the duration of his contract, however.
But we imagine they’ll be eager to get a fee for him, especially if it’s anything like £15m. This is one to watch before the end of the transfer window, then.
It sounds like it relies on Dan James leaving first – and maybe Anthony Gordon leaving to trigger that one. A long way to go before Liverpool get their money.
And if he doesn’t leave, the Reds are set to face Kent this season, of course.
