Jurgen Klopp has a message for Liverpool fans on social media who want a transfer in the coming days. The Reds are linked with players.
The end of the transfer window is upon us and Liverpool may or may not make a signing. The Reds have certainly been linked with some players but whether or not a move happens is unknown.
Famously, Liverpool only sign the ‘right’ player and would prefer to do nothing than take a major risk. That’s in contrast to many fans, who wish the club would improve their squad by spending before the transfer window closes.
Jurgen Klopp, however, wishes fans would understand the way Liverpool do things.
“Our supporters, who are pretty active on social media, can just stop doing that [calling for signings],” he told a press conference on Tuesday. “We have a good football team. We have injuries, they will come back.
“If somebody expects us to do always what others are doing, or what others wish to be, it is not possible. It will not happen before, it will not happen in the future.
“This club arrived here in this situation with the way we deal with situations. I don’t make the decision on how much we spend and it’s the truth, but I never did. And we are still here and won a couple of things.”
Klopp sends message to Liverpool fans on social media
To be fair to Klopp, this happens every year. Liverpool don’t make any major moves at the end of the transfer window – or all summer – and fans wish they would. Then the Reds challenge for trophies.

That didn’t happen in 2020/21 as Liverpool avoided signing a centre-back. Fans wanted a replacement for Dejan Lovren, one didn’t come, and then every centre-back got injured.
And so it’s easy to see both sides here. Klopp and Liverpool have their way of doing things and it does work. They clearly believe that the current squad can compete – and survive an injury crisis.
We think there probably is just about enough but it’s unquestionably a risk to not add more quality. We also think the right player might be available – time will tell if Liverpool see things the same way.
