Liverpool reportedly see Konrad Laimer as a potential transfer target this week. The player’s data makes him look like a dream.
90min report that Liverpool want Konrad Laimer. At the very least, he’s on their shortlist as a potential signing – something Jurgen Klopp admits the Reds are after.
“I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and I was wrong. That’s the situation,” Klopp said, per the Telegraph. “But the specific point doesn’t change – we will do something but it has to be the right one. We will see.”
Laimer might be a fantastic option, then. He’s 25 and in the final year of his contract, with Kicker claiming £25m would get him away from RB Leipzig. Though, Bayern Munich also want the player.
Data suggests that Liverpool should really look into Laimer, too. He might just be the best-pressing midfielder in Europe.
Liverpool target Konrad Laimer
Fbref uses Statsbomb data to rank players across Europe’s top-five leagues. It does that by position, placing every per 90 stat into a percentile.
Laimer’s stats all stand out as a midfielder. He’s 95th percentile for assists, 90th for dribbles, and 85th for tackles. Any midfielder winning three tackles per game is worth noting. Especially when they’re so adept going forward, too.

What will really make Liverpool take notice, however, are Laimer’s pressing stats. Fbref has him down as pressing 33.4 times per 90 – the most of any midfielder across Europe’s top-five leagues.
This isn’t mindless pressing, either. Laimer is successful with around 10.2 of those pressures – again, the highest rate in Europe over the last 12 months.
For a team as aggressive as Liverpool, it’s easy to see Laimer as the perfect fit. He moves with the ball well, creates chances, wins tackles and presses more than anyone. For £25m, he could be a true steal.
