Bournemouth manager Scott Parker is hopeful that Dominic Solanke will be fit to play against Liverpool this weekend.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk, Parker said that the former Liverpool striker will return to training on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s game.

“Dom will train for the first time tomorrow and, hopefully, he could be an option for the weekend if he comes through,” said the coach.

Solanke had missed Bournemouth’s last three games in all competitions with an ankle injury.

Solanke looking for a score to settle at Anfield

The presence of Solanke will definitely make Liverpool’s task a little trickier on Saturday. As their leading scorer last season, Bournemouth are very reliant on his goals.

The Cherries will likely be up against it at Anfield. They’ll need their best players on the pitch if they’re hoping to cause an upset. Solanke is definitely one of those.

Although he may have struggled over his season-and-a-half at Liverpool, he has blossomed into an excellent striker since his £19m move.

The 24-year-old regained his confidence in the Championship, scoring 44 goals in 86 games. He was even recognised as one of the division’s leading players in 2021/22.

Solanke is back in the Premier League and has a big point to prove. He’ll be desperate to make his mark back in the top division and perhaps make a late run at the England World Cup squad.

What better way to re-announce himself than a goal against the club where he managed just one in 27 games.

Liverpool are low on confidence and defensively all over the place at the moment. They need to put a stop to both of those things on Saturday. If they fail to do so, Solanke could end up punishing them.
