Liverpool will face some major competition for Leandro Paredes in this transfer window, according to reports. The Reds supposedly want the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.
TNT Sports in Argentina claim that Liverpool want Leandro Paredes and you can read our initial thoughts on that here. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is expected to leave his club as the competition for places grows.
But it seems that Liverpool won’t have an easy go of it. Gianluca di Marzio believes that Juventus want Paredes, too, and will try to sign him in the next week. AS Roma are also in the mix as they look to replace the injured Gini Wijnaldum.
If Liverpool truly do want Paredes this week, they’ll have to put up a fight.

This is a good rumour to showcase Liverpool’s problem right now. Essentially, the Reds need cover for Thiago and co. but that makes it hard to find a quality player. Who wants to arrive as second choice?
Paredes almost certainly doesn’t. He’d be leaving PSG to find regular football – something Juventus and Roma will likely give him. In fact, the midfielder has shone in the Italian capital before, and his form with Roma earned him the move to PSG.
Liverpool could struggle to convince Paredes, then, if their offer is more of the same that he sees in Paris. It would have to be a fairly incredible offer, we think, in order to get him to Anfield.
But is Paredes worth that offer? We’re not sure he is. The Argentine is a very good player but not a game-changing one. And at 28, he’s not securing Liverpool’s future.
If the Reds were going to spend a sizeable amount in wages to get someone, we’d rather they went after Frenkie de Jong. The Barcelona midfielder ticks just about every possible box.
A bargain deal for Paredes would also be a win. We’re just not sure how likely that is.
