Phil Foden gives his verdict on Liverpool as potential title challengers for Manchester City this season. The Reds haven’t started well.

Phil Foden believes a ‘dangerous’ Liverpool side will be a threat this season – but they’re not the only ones. The Manchester City player believes there could be several sides battling out at the top.

“I mean Liverpool are always a dangerous team,” he told Amazon Prime. “They have a great manager and are so dangerous as a team and not only just them, there’s a lot of teams that have strengthened as well.

“It’s going to be a great season.”

Teams have certainly strengthened. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have started brilliantly, for instance. Chelsea don’t appear done with their transfer business, either, while Manchester United could be just about anything.

The title race does suddenly feel a little more open than it has done in recent times. Though, Liverpool’s rocky start plays a big role in that. The Reds just don’t look like themselves.

Because there shouldn’t be any doubt that a full-firing Liverpool team blows the rest out of the water. City aside, of course. But the gap was so large that the likes of Spurs and Arsenal couldn’t make it up in one summer.

Unless Liverpool collapse. Now, there’s a long way to go before we can say that but zero wins from their first three games doesn’t look good. The Reds must get back on track rapidly so we can stop worrying about other potential champions.

City and Liverpool are the two best teams in this league when all is said and done. It just appears that Liverpool, in particular, need a bit of time to get back to that level.

Let’s hope it doesn’t take them too long.
