Stan Collymore believes Liverpool should have a go at signing Jude Bellingham right now. It comes after their loss to Manchester United.
Liverpool put in a terrible performance at Old Trafford last night and calls for change followed. That’s predictable, of course, and the most called-for change was a transfer.
Jude Bellingham is the name being thrown about. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is one of the world’s most in-demand players and one Liverpool almost certainly want. Is now the time to get him, then?
Stan Collymore certainly believes so as he took to Twitter to call for the signing.
“Go and get Bellingham now,” he wrote. “Test Dortmund’s resolve with a chunky bid and get him in.
“It’s not just [Manchester] City that Liverpool have to worry about. North London is more settled and Chelsea will keep spending.
“Make a statement, open the FSG vault and get some youthful dynamism in there.”

You won’t catch us disagreeing that Liverpool should sign Bellingham. He’s a sensational player and one who could be absolutely perfect for the team.
Our problem with it is that Dortmund won’t sell. Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier in the window that Liverpool made calls about Bellingham. They were told he wasn’t for sale – and that’s not going to change with a little over a week before it closes.
So while it’s a nice idea, it’s just not feasible. Any realistic offer Liverpool could make will almost certainly still be there in a year’s time, after all.
You can’t force them to sell, even with all the money you have. It just doesn’t work out and, unfortunately, there’s no obvious alternative to boost Liverpool’s midfield right now.
The Reds will make do with what they have, we imagine, and a big part of that will be welcoming players back from injury. Right now, though, it’s rightly got people wondering if that will be enough.
