Jurgen Klopp made his feelings towards Bruno Fernandes perfectly clear at the end of Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool. The Reds’ boss wasn’t happy.
Liverpool had a thousand reasons to be upset after their trip to Old Trafford on Monday evening. They were appalling, in truth, failing to handle the intensity coming from Manchester United.
No one saw that coming, of course. United have struggled badly this season, losing to Brighton and Brentford but they seemingly became one of the world’s best high-intensity sides here.
Liverpool just never truly got going, couldn’t play fast enough and United deserved their win. Jurgen Klopp wasn’t in a good mood after the final whistle, then, and he showed that with a reaction to Bruno Fernandes.
The United playmaker managed to draw Liverpool’s ire after Mohamed Salah’s goal. He picked up the ball and simply refused to let go of it – even when the referee got involved. After Salah and Roberto Firmino got it off him, he feigned an eye injury. Fortunately, the ref had none of it.
But Klopp obviously wasn’t happy with what he saw. A video posted by Football Daily showed him grab Fernandes after the game as the player tried to shake his hand.

Can’t imagine too many would begrudge Klopp that reaction. We’re not sure what Fernandes was trying to do but it just looked petulant – even through the bitterness.
But really, it’s just a sign that Klopp was furious after that one and had a lot of frustration. As he should, of course.
Liverpool were infuriatingly bad here and we can’t remember the last time they looked so off the pace. We’ve seen poor displays where they couldn’t get their goal but this was just bad. United ran them off the pitch.
Klopp took some of that frustration out on Fernandes it seems – but we imagine there was more waiting for the players in the dressing room.
