Two Liverpool youngsters look set to make their squad vs Manchester United tonight. The pair only had 45 minutes for the U21s this weekend.
Liverpool Under 21s picked up a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers this weekend. Max Woltman got the all-important goal – no more than the Reds deserved.
The game was also notable for having Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff watching. They stuck around for much of the match and it appears easy to see why.
Both Stefan Bajcetic and Bobby Clark – key players for the U21s – were subbed off at half-time. It’s a sign that both players will be in the senior squad for Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford on Monday evening.
That would certainly explain why Klopp and co. had their eyes on the fixture. The duo were also in the squad against Crystal Palace a week ago and with the likes of Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out, it appears they’re next in line for opportunities.
Liverpool squad vs Manchester United
Liverpool do need to rely on their youngsters right now. Quite a few senior stars are out with injuries – and one with suspension, of course. It’s the best way for the kids to get opportunities.

That’s certainly true now that Klopp has five substitutions available to him. We can’t imagine that either Bajcetic or Clark get on unless we see another 5-0 but it’s step one to getting Premier League minutes.
And why not give them a go in the right circumstances? We were very impressed with Bajcetic, in particular, across pre-season where Liverpool kept him around the first-team until the end.
His performances felt like a step towards the first-team and he’d be our pick to get minutes at Old Trafford. Again, we can only see it happening if Liverpool batter United – but it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
