James Milner gave his ‘honest’ opinion on Darwin Nunez this week. The striker has enjoyed a great start to life at Liverpool.
Darwin Nunez may not have started a competitive match for Liverpool yet but he’s certainly impressing everyone. Roy Keane, Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Phil Thompson have all raved about the Uruguayan.
But two goals in two substitute appearances – as well as winning a penalty and registering an assist – will draw praise. Liverpool would have nothing to show for their opening two games this season, if not for Nunez’s impact.
And so it’s not exactly a surprise that teammates, too, love what they’re seeing from the no.27. James Milner is the latest to rave about Nunez in an interview for Liverpoolfc.com.
James Milner on Darwin Nunez
“I think he’ll have an impact the whole time he’s here, to be honest,” said Milner. “Since he’s been here, he’s [been] impressive on the field, worked hard, makes great runs [and] is desperate to put his head on the ball in the box.
“If you put a ball in there, he’ll do everything he can to get on the end of it – good finisher, both feet and he’s different to the other boys up there.

“We’ve already got some very exciting attacking players who can cause problems, so he’s a great addition. He’ll be fantastic for us.”
You can’t really ask for more at this early stage. Again, Nunez hasn’t actually started for Liverpool yet – there’s an awful lot more to come and what we’re seeing already is brilliant.
We’re seeing early adjustments, too, as Jurgen Klopp looks to get the most out of his new striker. There will be more of those to come and as Nunez gets used to Liverpool, Liverpool will get more out of Nunez.
We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds.
