Liverpool love the profile of Matheus Nunes, according to reports. The Reds have been linked with the midfielder.
This comes from journalist Dean Jones for the Football Terrace Podcast. He claims that Liverpool love the profile of Matheus Nunes and have been scouting midfielders.
“It wouldn’t totally surprise me though now if Liverpool do make an offer for either a midfielder or a forward, I think they’ll only do one or the other,” said Jones. “Obviously, Matheus Nunes at Sporting is one that we should look out.
“It’s a market people are loving at the moment [the Primeira Liga]. And I know Liverpool have scouting reports. They think his profile is perfect.”
Liverpool love Matheus Nunes profile
Reports out of Portugal have claimed all summer that Liverpool like Nunes. Correio de Manha is one of those. But it’s not that simple.
But you never know with Liverpool. If the Reds truly do want a midfielder, we believe they could persuade Nunes to push for a transfer this month.
For one thing, we also believe his profile is perfect for Liverpool and have written so before. Nunes looks like the ideal player for the Reds if they want to return to the Primeira Liga for a third signing in 2022. The last two have certainly worked well.
O Jogo also believe that a £51m offer would get the player. That’s the upper-limit, then, but we imagine Liverpool would try and negotiate something lower.
Then comes the big question, however – do they need a midfielder right now? Thiago’s injury suggests yet but the Athletic claims he’ll only be gone for six weeks. If Klopp believes Liverpool can survive that spell okay – and the rest of the season – then we can’t see a transfer happening.
In other words, a big decision is coming soon.
