Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott has set himself the same target for ‘each and every game’ this season. The teenager is aiming high.
Harvey Elliott isn’t taking his role in Liverpool’s first-team squad lightly. Nor is he considering himself a mere young player who’s there to learn, rather than contribute.
Nothing shows that off better than a goal that Elliott has for ‘each and every’ Liverpool game this season. The youngster wants to impact things every single time he’s on the pitch.
“I’ve always been an attacking player, so I mean, attackers get judged on stats,” he told LFCTV. “So that’s sort of my aim – to either score or assist in each and every game I play.
“I think I have the desire and the confidence in myself to do that. It’s just down to me to produce.”
Harvey Elliott sets himself a target
Elliott is taking his first-team role incredibly seriously and to say he isn’t resting on his laurels would be an understatement. In fact, there are at least two ways this summer that he’s tried to improve himself even away from Liverpool’s training pitches.
That level of determination will take Elliott far – and he’s already an accomplished player. That injury really disrupted his 2021/22 campaign but we shouldn’t forget just how good the youngster was to kick off the campaign. He was extraordinary for such an inexperienced player.

This season is a big one, then, as Elliott looks to recapture that form and then build on it. We’ll back him to do so, of course, as his mentality with it all remains remarkable.
Jurgen Klopp wants to think of Elliott as a ‘new signing’ and perhaps that’s the best way to treat him this time around. The teenager wasn’t able to impact the whole season last time – but it sounds as though he’s ready to do so now.
