Harvey Elliott has found two new ways to improve his game this summer. The Liverpool talent is now tipped for a ‘breakthrough’.

It seems that Harvey Elliott is working harder than ever this summer in an effort to improve his game. The teenager enjoyed a fantastic start to last season, of course, but a serious ankle injury halted his progress.

By the time Elliott returned, the opportunities for first-team football simply weren’t there. Now, however, it feels like they’re back and Jurgen Klopp wants to treat him like a new signing.

Elliott certainly appears to see those opportunities and he won’t let them pass him by. He’s found two different ways to improve himself this summer – and now he’s tipped for a ‘breakthrough’.

Harvey Elliott works to improve

“I did a bit more in terms of fitness work this summer to ensure I was in the best possible position coming back,” Elliott told the Athletic. “I lost a fair bit of weight in the off-season – I had a target last season, which I reached, and I’ve done it again.”

That’s a very simple way to improve, of course, as Elliott looks to get into the best possible shape for the season. At the very least, it shows Klopp and co. his willingness to work hard and stay disciplined.

Equally important is the fact that Elliott has taken to training on his own. He’s working with Scott Chickelday – a coach who specialises in individual shooting training.

“He wanted to get some work in before Liverpool went away,” Chikelday told Sky Sports. “We worked on repetition with his finishing.

“He has a really good shot on him now and I hope this will be a real breakthrough season.”

We’ve written before about Elliott’s mentality and it shines through once again here. He’s absolutely determined to thrive in the game and will put in all the necessary work to make it happen.

Liverpool have a very special talent here.
