'That's great to see': James Milner reacts to what he's seen Darwin Nunez do during Liverpool's pre-season

James Milner has admitted that he’s delighted to see how well Darwin Nunez has settled into life at Liverpool.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Milner said the existing squad’s familiarity with each other has led to a quick adaptation for Nunez.

“It helps, the group we’ve had; we’ve been together a long time, with a few new additions obviously. Darwin doesn’t seem to have struggled too much settling in, with the goals he’s been banging in already. That’s great to see,” said the 36-year-old.

What a difference a game can make. Darwin had looked to be struggling under the weight of his transfer fee in his first couple of Liverpool appearances. One game and four goals later, and he looks so much more comfortable.

Plenty to get excited about tonight

It feels like an age since Liverpool last played, doesn’t it? Since Nunez’s incredible evening in Leipzig, The Reds have undergone an intense training camp in Austria.

Over the course of the camp, new friendships have been cultivated, and Liverpool look fitter and sharper.

That makes tonight’s game against RB Salzburg very exciting indeed. Nunez will be desperate to show that his four goals were no flash in the pan, and looks set to play from the start this evening.

Some youngsters may get another chance to show what they can do before Saturday’s Community Shield too.

On the flip-side, it’ll also be good to see what Salzburg have to offer. The Austrian Champions have already started their domestic season – winning their opening game 3-0 against Austria Vienna on Friday.

Their superior match-fitness coupled with their talented squad will make them a good test for Liverpool.

One or two, such as midfielder Luka Sucic, could even be undergoing something of an audition in-front of Jurgen Klopp.

An exciting evening at the Red Bull Arena lies in wait, then. Nunez will be itching to go again. After a week of working intensively with his new teammates, let’s hope he shows off exactly what he’s been learning.
