Andy Robertson scored a great goal in training for Liverpool yesterday, and proceeded to mock Trent Alexander-Arnold about it.
As seen on the Liverpool FC Twitter page, Robertson fully committed to scoring a diving header in-front of Trent’s dangling boot.
And taking to Instagram stories after the session, the left-back had three words for his full-back colleague – “Wanted. It. More.”
Absolute and total commitment followed up with banter at Alexander-Arnold’s expense? It could only be Robbo.
Robertson demonstrates why he’s a fan favourite
Robertson’s desire to put his body on the line for Liverpool is part of the reason why he’s universally adored at Anfield.
There aren’t many instances where he would be needed to score a goal like this during a proper match. But you could easily see him doing it at the other end of the pitch to keep a goal out.
For the last year or so, Kostas Tsimikas has been breathing down his neck for the starting spot at left-back. This is the kind of commitment in training which will convince Jurgen Klopp that the Scotland captain should still be his first choice.
In reality, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be. Liverpool are lucky enough to have two top-class left-backs jostling for position. But throughout that battle, Robertson has rarely looked like relinquishing his spot for good.

Tsimikas’ influence within the squad has grown immeasurably since this time last year. The Greek is a hugely popular member of the team and even scored the penalty that clinched the FA Cup in May.
But Robbo is top dog. Unless something relatively drastic happens this season, you’d think that would continue to be the case.
Keep putting on shows like this, and he’ll keep reminding us all of why he’s such a favourite on The Kop and with the manager.
